Who's Who

As explained by my blogger name, I am the proud mum of 4 lovely children - three boys and a girl. Here's a bit more information about my brood:

DS1 is 14, nearly 6ft tall already, and beginning his life-determining journey of GCSE's and, hopefully, further study. It is an odd moment when your child starts something that you remember so vividly doing yourself like it was yesterday! Despite his large stature, he really is a gentle giant and sensitive to those around him. He takes a long time to make friends, but once he has decided you are worthy of his friendship, he will be loyal to the end. He has a strong sense of right and wrong and is very thoughtful and sensible so, apart from the usual messy bedroom and teenage smells, he isn't a terrible teen!

DS2 is my wild child. From the age of 18 months when he was walking and talking he has challenged me! He is extremely clever but often uses it to his advantage which can be manipulating or conniving, which is what riles me. However, he can be surprisingly astute in certain situations and often pre-empts people's behaviour which makes him especially useful when we're with younger children, keeping them entertained at parties or looking after them when friends visit. He has the potential to do very well at school, but he has a lazy (or avoidance streak) which lets him down, resulting in numerous letters home from teachers concerned about his levels. He is 13 next month so I hope he knuckles down now leading up to his start of GCSE's. He would make a very good politician as he can argue his point about anything!

DS3 is my quiet, easy child. I should have known he was going to be an easy child when he found his fingers to suck to put himself to sleep in the Moses basket a month after he was born. He has given me no problems throughout his life, is easygoing, works hard but quietly at school (a teacher's dream student!), gets on with everyone. Sometimes he is so quiet, family have asked if he is unwell! He is 11 and starting secondary school in September. I worry that, because he is so well behaved, he will be forgotten in a big class and not be pushed to fulfill his potential, but only time will tell. Fortunately, it is a good school so I know if I have any concerns they will deal with it.

Last, but not least, is DD. Being a girl, I knew I was in for a different ride with child number 4! Everyone told me she would be harder than the boys, but I didn't mind - I had my girl! I can't say she has been that difficult, being a girl myself I know what's going on in her head. She wrapped her brothers around her little finger when she was younger, but, now she's 7, the older two find her a little annoying and are a bit short tempered with her! DS3 still enjoys playing with her though and they have lots of fun as they have similar interests. They are both very active and he is patient enough to play their make-believe games with her even though there is 4 years between them. She's outgoing, caring, opinionated and fearless, my feisty girl. She's also very loving and forever giving me hugs and kisses!

So, that's my kids - DH did not wish to be mentioned but he is my other-half in every sense, sharing every responsibility with the kids and home with me, my silent partner, my rock. Sorry love!
